A507, Brogborough

Background

CHM Group provided comprehensive traffic management services to support utility and drainage surveying works on the A507 in Brogborough, Bedfordshire. The project involved over 8,500 square metres of area to survey, including inspection and clearance of gullies, chambers, and drainage systems. The works were conducted to support a proposed commercial development nearby and to assess existing drainage conditions and blockages. The site’s proximity to major distribution centres and Junction 13 of the M1 made it a high-sensitivity location requiring meticulous planning and coordination.

Our Approach

CHM Group worked collaboratively with Central Bedfordshire Council and National Highways to secure the necessary road space permits and ensure works did not conflict with other schemes, including those on the M1. The setup included both 2-way and 4-way traffic signal systems under ring management, designed to maintain safe and efficient traffic movement.

Environmentally friendly Oxford Plastics Enduraframe 1500 signage was deployed across the site. A unique aspect of the works involved directing traffic the opposite way around a roundabout under controlled shuttle lane operation. This approach maximised access for the drainage teams while maintaining safety and clarity for road users.

The CHM team delivered consistent on-site supervision and proactive coordination to ensure the client’s productivity and safety standards were upheld throughout all night-time operations.
